I think this is the prototypical year for the BCS to go and to have a playoff, the race is so tight with a bunch of teams with one loss, a lot of teams think they deserve to be in the top 2.
The BCS is a mess. If KU wins out they should be in the title game, but not Hawaii. College Football needs a playoff, a 4 team playoff would be what I prefer, but no more then 8 teams.
I like 8 more than 4. I think a playoff would be some much fun though. It seems realisticly unlikely that they would ever ditch the Bowl system though simply because of monetary reasons.
With the way everything is shaking out right now it looks like this could be a great year to make a strong push for a playoff system. There is a definite possibility that this could be a gigantic mess come bowl selection time.
